I don’t know about you, but there’s something so special about my first cup of coffee in the morning. The sound of grinding beans, the delicious aroma that fills my kitchen while it’s brewing, and the warmth of the mug in my hands. For me, coffee is more than just caffeine – it’s my morning ritual. And on sunny mornings, I like to sit out on my balcony while I take my first sips – it’s the perfect way to start the day!
But like many everyday pleasures, coffee has a hidden footprint: deforestation, pesticide use, low wages, and unsafe working conditions are unfortunately still common in the global coffee industry.
Lucky for us coffee addicts, there are some amazing brands working to change that – through organic farming, regenerative practices, ethical sourcing, and transparency around labor and pay. Below are some of the best sustainable coffee brands around the world, along with some blends to try.

1. Peace Coffee
This Minneapolis-based roaster has been doing things the right way since the ’90s. Peace Coffee partners with small-scale farmer co-ops, uses 100% organic beans, and runs a bike-delivery program in their hometown. Their Morning Glory blend is smooth, earthy, and a fan favorite for starting the day right.
🌍 Ships across the U.S.
Also known as COMSA, this farmer-owned co-op is based in Honduras and supplies beans to several ethical roasters around the world. They focus on regenerative agriculture, biodiversity, and improving education in their local communities. If you see beans labeled “COMSA” at your favorite roastery… grab them!
🌍 Widely distributed under different roasters in North America and Europe.
3. Kaffe Bueno
Kaffe Bueno is a Danish B Corp that uses a circular model – not only sourcing sustainably grown Colombian beans, but also repurposing spent coffee grounds into beauty and wellness products. Pretty freaking cool, right? Try their whole beans or grounds for filter coffee, and keep an eye on their skincare line if you’re curious. I know I am!
🌍 Available online and in select EU countries.
Roasted in Cornwall and sourced directly from ethical farms, Yallah Coffee is committed to traceability and pays farmers well above market rates. Their Long Miles Project beans from Burundi are beautifully bright and complex.
🌍 Ships throughout the UK and parts of Europe.
5. Blue Tokai
This Delhi-based roaster is helping to reshape the Indian specialty coffee scene by working directly with local farms and focusing on transparency. If you’re in South Asia, their Attikan Estate medium roast is a solid go-to with chocolatey depth and just a hint of fruit.
🌍 Ships within India and internationally to select countries.
Pachamama is unique in that it’s actually owned by smallholder farmers themselves. It’s a global co-op with farms in Peru, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Guatemala, and Mexico — so every purchase helps support farmer ownership and control. Their French Roast is dark, bold, and ideal for espresso lovers.
🌍 Ships across the U.S.
7. Café Mam
Grown by Indigenous cooperatives in Chiapas, Café Mam coffee is 100% organic and shade-grown. They reinvest profits into community programs and land conservation. Their medium roast whole bean has a rich, nutty flavor and is great in both drip and French press.
🌍 Ships within the U.S. and Canada.
This nonprofit coffee brand donates 100% of its profits to clean water projects in Uganda and Nicaragua. Their beans are sustainably grown, fairly traded, and roasted in small batches. It’s a feel-good brew that does good too.
🌍 Ships internationally via their website.

Brew Even Better with Reusables
Even the most ethical beans lose their shine if you’re brewing with wasteful tools. Consider switching to a reusable metal filter (like the ones from Able or Kohi) instead of disposable paper filters. And manual grinders, like those from 1Zpresso or Hario, not only save electricity but give you more control over the grind size and flavor. It’s a simple upgrade that makes your morning cup even more rewarding.
